The Speech of Presentation about Lake Wakatipu

I’m going to introduce about Lake Wakatipu.

First is the size, shape and what happen. Lake Wakatipu is in the Queenstown. It is third largest of the lakes of New Zealand. Its shape is zigzag, and it looks like capital letter “H”. And it is 90km long and 3 or 4km wide. In Lake Wakatipu, high and low tide happen every 25 minute, and tidal range is 10cm because of odd shape. Tidal means “kanman” in Japanese.
Next is around Lake Wakatipu. There are many rivers, but only one river flow out from it. The river’s name is Kawarau. It is 60km, and it reaches lake near Cromwell. Cromwell is in the center of Otago. ON Kawarau River, we can enjoy doing jet boating, white water rafting and bungee jumping. The bridge is 43m above the river.
There are many activities in Lake Wakatipu, so I start to think that I want to go.

Thanksgiving Day

I’m going to talk about how to spend in Thanksgiving Day. They usually spend at their home in this day, and they eat traditional dishes in a general when night comes. After that they have eating and drinking until midnight. The day is as big as Christmas. All of stores close. McDonald’s or the burger shops also closes unusually and the hotel limits their menus. Many people have travel to meet their family. When this term comes, the turkeys are sold in supermarket, so it’s save people from stuffing solid into the turkey. On Thursday of Thanksgiving Day, every shop close, but sales which aim for Christmas begin on next day or Saturday.

Festival

I ‘m going to introduce about an autumn festival, and I researched about “Thanksgiving Day”.

This is one of holidays in America and Canada. This is called “Turkey day”, too. The day is fourth Saturday of November in America and is second Monday of October in Canada. There are some differences of habit between America and Canada.

Next are incidents in America and Canada around when the Thanksgiving Day started. The day started from in about1620. It was started by European who were called pilgrim. They arrive at America with ridding the Mayflower on December 26. After that they could spend safely for a year, and they thanked god for a good harvest. And Cornelius Drebbel invented the first submarine in Britain. And shogun Tokugawa Hidetada restored Osaka castle in Japan. And Thirty Year’s war (1618~1648) had continued.
